From EMDR Therapist to Consultant: A Practical Pathway

Become an EMDR Consultant at Trauma Therapist Institute©

Becoming an EMDR Consultant is a specialized and respected role that allows you to diversify your business, expand your expertise, and establish yourself as a leader in the field of trauma therapy. Consulting not only enhances your clinical skills but also keeps you connected with peers and provides a powerful buffer against burnout and professional fatigue.

The path to becoming an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant requires meeting academic requirements and completing consultation hours with consultees, a task many therapists find challenging to arrange on their own. At the Trauma Therapist Institute, we’ve created a structured Consultant Training Internship, giving you a clear and structured roadmap, clinicians to consult with, a lifelong community to belong to, and everything you need to succeed.

What You’ll Learn in Our EMDR Consultant Training Program

  • How to be a skilled EMDR consultant
  • Mastery of fidelity to the EMDR protocol
  • Advanced clinical techniques
  • Skills to consult with individuals and groups
  • Our developmental model of consultation
  • How to build a thriving consultation practice
  • Best practices for working with specialty populations (addictions, disordered eating, chronic pain, dissociation and more)
  • Business and ethics of consultation
  • Entrepreneurial skills

What To Expect In EMDR Consultant Training

In this training program, we believe the interpersonal process of consultation is just as meaningful as the delivery of academic information. Therefore, we train consultants to master both the academic content and the interpersonal. No other group offers an internship that’s as well-rounded, structured and organized as the one you’ll find at TTI.
